Making Leadership More Human: Hult Ashridge Perspectives

In partnership with Developing Leaders Quarterly

How can leaders build organizations where people and performance thrive together?

In this special supplement, to mark the 50th edition of Developing Leaders Quarterly, our faculty explore how we can make leadership more human.

Five overlapping magazines titled "Hult Ashridge Perspectives: Making Leadership More Human" on a gradient blue-green background.

Hult Ashridge has been developing leaders since 1959 and, like Developing Leaders Quarterly, we remain committed to the same simple idea, that organizations can and should be more human.

That commitment feels harder to honor than it once did. Leadership has never been talked about more – it is measured, modeled, analyzed, and developed at every turn – and yet the leaders we work with tell us it has rarely felt more difficult.

Hult Ashridge Perspectives brings together voices from across our faculty, each picking up a different strand of what leadership now asks of people. Some of the pieces look inward, at the leader’s own life and inner world. Others look outward, at the systems and cultures leaders have to work within. One thing that ties them all together is a shared sense that the old managerial brief is shifting.

Whether you lead, develop leaders, research leadership, or simply care about the question, we hope the supplement prompts the kind of reflection that sits at the heart of what we do. How can leadership help build organizations where people and performance thrive together, rather than at the expense of the other?
