What makes relational coaching work?

In this session we will explore the importance of building connection and psychological safety as a base for change. We will discuss key elements of coaching from the contracting and monitoring of personalised goals, listening at meta-level and why making use of the here-and-now in coaching so important.

How effective is coaching?

What do we know about effectiveness of coaching? How can we implement executive coaching projects making use of what works? In this session Dr de Haan will explore what we do know about outcomes, what is still undecided, and what does that mean for practice.

What processes are most effective?

What do we know about coaching critical moments, and how have we researched the effectiveness of coaching process through video-analysis? From the analysis of specific coach behaviours, correlated with the outcome of conversations, Dr De Haan will share key insights into the effectiveness of specific interventions in coaching.

Coaching and AI

Can AI democratise coaching and give everyone a personalised coach? We will give an overview of the latest research with several randomized trials involving chatbots in coaching. How do current AI coaches compare against a human coach and where can AI add value?

Meet our expert speaker

Erik de Haan

Director of the Hult Ashridge Centre for Coaching and Professor of Organization Development at Hult International Business School

Dr Erik de Haan is Professor of OD at Hult International Business School and also at the VU University Amsterdam. He has thirty years of experience in organizational and personal development and founded the Hult Ashridge Centre for Coaching in 2005.

Erik has an MSc in Theoretical Physics and gained his PhD with his research into learning and decision-making processes in perception. He is a British Psychoanalytic Council registered psychodynamic psychotherapist with an MA in psychotherapy from the Tavistock Clinic, has co-authored more than 250 articles and 16 books, and sits on the editorial board of three journals including the Consulting Psychology Journal.

Erik has worked with clients from all major industries in many countries. He is included in the independent Thinkers 50 Coaching Legends. Erik is an Ashridge/MCC/EMCC accredited coach and supervisor and is qualified to deliver a range of psychometric instruments.
